We are able to provide a certificate detailing the plating process that we have carried out for you. A typical example can be seen in the sample certificate image below.
How do we do this? We use the Energy-Dispersive X–Ray Fluorescence method (ED-XRF): The radiation of an X-Ray tube excites the sample to emit X-Ray fluorescence radiation. This radiation is characteristic for each element & the energy spectrum is registered by the detector. The elements contained in the sample can be identified by the characteristic energy of the peaks of the spectra. The concentrations of the elements, or the coating thicknesses, respectively, are determined from the intensity of the radiation portions.
In the image above you can see an 18ct gold ring during analysis.
The image below is the detailed report that identifies the elements that make up the ring. This is very useful in identifying causes of possible allergies caused by metals such as nickel. This 18ct gold ring does not contain nickel & is comprised of the following elements:
- Gold (Au)
- Silver (Ag)
- Copper (Cu)
- Zinc (Zn)
