Platinum Plating

Platinum Plating

Platinum is an extremely rare metal, occurring as only 0.003 parts-per-billion in the Earth’s crust. It is said that all of the platinum ever mined could fit into your living room. It is sometimes mistaken for silver but platinum is whiter in appearance.

Jewellery is ideally suited to platinum plating due to its beautiful bright lustre and long lasting durability and being 60% heavier than gold is also denser and stronger making it more resistant to damage. It will also retain its lustre longer as it does not tarnish.

Platinum offers excellent resistance against corrosion and oxidation making it suitable for electronics and industrial applications. It is well known for its use in catalytic converters. The platinum helps absorb excess hydrogen, which improves the overall performance of the converter.
